Speed of Sound – Mach 3

WOW what a fantastic night this turned out to be. The best part was the feedback from others! It makes all the hard work worth it to hear that everyone enjoyed it especially hearing that Maya haven’t had a Friday like that in a very long time. The venue has this great Mayan meets cyber-tech theme which worked really well with out music, costumes and energy.

Jez made some great motion-responsive glow fans. Each runs off a Picaxe 20X2. It reads a 3-axis accelerometer, converts motions into hue and brightness, and powers the ten RGB LEDs through a PCA9633 driver and a simple transistor output stage. Video of Wendy testing them out:

Epic moment – Seeing people leave their queues for other places to come watch Joel, Wendy and others hulla hooping and playing with the glow fans outside on the street.

The bar owner was so impressed with our visuals that they are going to invest in their own projectors for the club. (no idea why they hadn’t in the first place!) It was Chelfyns idea to project into the cave like shapes on the walls and we made masks for the projectors to match the shapes. It worked really well I was so pleased with how it turned out.

Videos to come soon.
